Program

Since the last conference in Evanston, the QFS meeting has opened its sessions to research fields from other communities, but linked to the Quantum Fluids and Solids interests.

In this framework, a special session dedicated to Nano-Electro-Mechanical Systems (NEMS) at the quantum limit has been opened in QFS 2010. The session is also opened to works on low temperature MEMS devices, opto-mechanics, and mechanical probes dedicated to quantum fluids studies.

This session, spanning over one and a half days (05 afternoon for posters and 06 the whole day for talks), is also opened for registration separately from QFS2010, for people not attending the other sessions.

A social Banquet is planned on the evening of the 5th, at the Chateau du Touvet. More details can be found ont the QFS2010 webpage : Banquet.

Excursions

Three excursions in Grenoble and the surrounding area have been planned for the 04/08 afternoon ; note that you should chose only one of these :

Grenoble & cable car (15€) : the visit starts with the Grenoble fortification "Bastille", and ends in the old part of the town, close to the river "Isère". From the beginning of the Chartreuse mountain, you will have a magnificent view over the Grenoble town and its valley. In the city centre, you will discover the old III^rd century roman wall, the XIII^th century cathedral and many other beautiful places.
Chartreuse tour (30€) : you will go with a bus through the beautiful Chartreuse mountains to the Chartreux monastery. The monastery cannot be entered, since the monks are completely devoted to prayer. You will visit the Chartreux museum which is located 2 km below, and get back to Voiron (close to Grenoble) to the Chartreux's cellar, a 165 metres long basement where the monks keep making their secret alcohol recipe. After a visit of this notorious place, you will try the exceptional "Père Chartreux" liquor.
Hiking (30€) : a half-day hiking tour in the mountains next to Grenoble, with a guide. For this excursion, you will need adapted clothing with in particular good shoes.

QFS 2010 Industrial Exhibition

A commercial exhibition will take place in the frame of the International Symposium on Quantum Fluids and Solids.

The exhibition is planned for three days, August 3rd -5th, 2010.

It will be located in the WTC Atrium together with the scientific poster sessions.

Grenoble is a small city (450.000 people), located in the French Alps. It is surrounded by beautiful mountains (Belledonne, Chartreuse, Vercors...). Information about Grenoble can be found at : http://www.grenoble-tourisme.com//about/

The Conference is held at the World Trade Center (WTC) Conference Center. It is next to the town center, close to the train station and hotels. It is also walking distance from the Institut Néel Laboratory, the organizing institution.

Financial Support

1) We have answered by mail all financial support requests. If you made a support request and you did NOT receive the "QFS 2010 Financial support" mail, please contact us.

2) We are sending invitation letters by regular mail to those of you who requested them. We are contacting the French consulate in your countries, they will receive an updated list of the registered participants, and the letters of invitation will probably not be needed. We are checking this.

Information on Financial Support

Limited financial support is available towards reimbursements for travel, accommodation and registration fee.

The grants originate from the European Union (Marie Curie Cryocourse, Advanced Cryogenics Course), the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics (IUPAP), the European Physical Society (EPS), the LT25 Foundation, CNRS and other sponsors.

Young researchers (in general less than 4 years after Master Degree, and in some cases less than 10 years after Master Degree) may be eligible for support.
